Jane’s Addiction members fight during concert

Jane’s Addiction’s final show in Boston on Friday ended on a very bad note after a clash between the band’s vocalist, Perry Farrell, and their guitarist, Dave Navarro; an incident that has left fans perplexed and has led Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau, to explain the reasons behind her husband’s behaviour.

A video circulating online shows Farrell approaching Navarro in an aggressive manner, facing him in a very angry manner. At one point, he pushes him hard with his shoulder and tries to punch him, at which point Navarro tries to protect himself, displaying a bewildered expression on his face. Bassist Eric Avery then comes to separate them.

Following the incident, Etty Lau wanted to put the situation into context. She explained that Farrell was angry at the loud volume of the instruments, which was drowning out his voice, a problem that had been “frustrating” him at previous concerts and was causing complaints in the front rows. Lau explains that Farrell has hearing problems and that, at that moment, the volume had caused him to suffer from a sore throat, because “he was no longer singing but shouting.”

As for the fight, Lau gives her version of events, saying that after separating Navarro, Eric took Perry backstage and, in an attempt to subdue him, put him in a headlock and punched him three times in the stomach. Etty says that, after the incident, Farrell was a “raging beast” and that, afterwards, the singer “broke down” and couldn’t stop “crying and crying.” According to Lau, Eric “took advantage of the situation” to attack Perry.

According to those attending the Jane’s Addiction tour, tension was already felt on stage at the first concerts due to Farrell’s vocal problems. However, no night has been as disastrous as this Friday.

Curiously, someone has mentioned the news to Liam Gallagher of Oasis, writing to him that “this will be you and Noel on the third night of your tour”. Gallagher has responded by denying it because “we are very professional now”, adding that “what we are preparing will blow your mind”.
