Zara Larsson has recently given the details of his new album, ‘Midnight Sun’, which happens to ‘Venus’ (2024) only a year later and is put on sale on September 26. The first advance, ‘Pretty Ugly’, has been able to divide the public … but the second knows reconciliation.
‘Midnight Sun’, the cut that titles and opens the album, is a current 100% production that fuses pop, trance, edm and drum n ‘Bass and something similar to the deconstructed club. Together with the producers Margo XS and Mnek, Larsson has conceived a summer pop song that sounds euphoric and plethoric. In the chorus, Larson lengthens the syllable of “Sun” to infinity, transcending.
Specifically, ‘Midnight Sun’ celebrates the good life in Sweden, a country from which Larsson proceeds. His happiness occurs in contact with love and nature. While Zara feels “connected with everything” and “protected by the moon and the stars,” asks his boy to raise the volume of his playlist while driving through the Swedish dawn.
Larsson has explained about ‘Midnight Sun’ that, although “sounds like a love song, it is actually a song about love for life.” «It is very me, in my country house in Sweden, enjoying a Swedish summer night where the sun never gets. It is very special that not many people have in their childhood, but for me it is a nostalgic and authentic experience, something that really represents what I feel is my home. This song describes the maximum point of life for me: going out with all my friends, driving in my car, listening to music, jumping into the water. It is a celebration of life that I only want to never end.
‘Midnight Sun’ has been promoted with a video clip that recreates the popular SEAPunk aesthetics years ago. This visual style has recently helped to viralize in Tiktok a previous single from Zara Larsson with Clean Bandit, ‘Symphony’.
