It is clear: Mariah Carey did not copy ‘All I want for Christmas’

Mariah Carey has won a demand for 20 million dollars filed in 2023 by the singers Vince Vance and Troy Powers, who assured that ‘All i want for Christmas is you’, the most famous carol in history, is a copy of a 1989 song of his that has the same name.

Although the songs only resemble Christmas theme, Vance said it was plagiarism. However, his proposal was rejected last Wednesday in a jury in California, ensuring that the two songs are “different” despite sharing “usual clichés of Christmas songs.”

The play will go upside down to Vance, since magistrate Monica Ramírez Almadani also considers that Vance has not fulfilled her part correctly, so she has imposed a series of sanctions to cover part or all of the fees of Carey’s lawyers. The main reason is to “incur unnecessary expenses responding to frivolous legal arguments and de facto -founded allegations.”

The lawsuit was filed three years ago and is not the only one that Vince Vance has filed against Mariah Carey. In June 2022, he had already filed another against the Diva and his co -author, Walter Afanasieff, who was dismissed five months later.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8hwhd0eyja
