Tate McRAE unworthy his fans collaborating with Morgan Wallen

Is ‘I Got Better’ the best country song of the moment?

Despite all the controversies surrounding the figure of Morgan Wallen, his music enjoys enormous success in the United States, so much that his latest album, ‘i’m the problem’, is about to add a seventh consecutive week in number 1 of the country’s album. It will be, most likely, the best -selling album of all 2025 in the United States.

‘I’m the problem’ contains two singles that have been number 1 in the Billboard Hot 100, ‘Love Sombody’ and ‘What I Want’ with Tate McRAe. Others, such as ‘i’m The Problem’ or ‘Just in Case’, have remained in 2. And others remain as well as ‘I Got Better’.

‘I Got Better’, current Top 20 in the United States, after having reached the seventh position, it can be the best song of ‘i’m the problem’. At least, in all its classic country form (there are no trap strokes as in ‘Just in Case’), it is one of the most vulnerable and melancholic. Personally, he reminds me of the wonderful ‘Merry Go’ Round of Kacey Musgraves.

‘I Got Better’ is a country song, but its formula is pop, hence it works as a shot from the first listening. Wallen has not composed the song alone, but has done so in the company of authors such as Blake Pendergrass or Ernest Keith Smith. The lyrics, however, is personal and recounts the moment when Wallen sees the light after a break. The person he was not doing well. “I feel better since you have gone” is his war cry.

Americanisms are not lacking in this replacement composition, the letter includes a deer hunting scene), nor the allusions to Wallen’s own life, who, after all, acknowledges not having changed so much. He sings that he continues “getting into fights that do not concern him” and “drinking some more Friday night.” But, at least, progress properly. ‘I Got Better’ portrays, with a lot of magic, that moment when things begin to go, because that, a little better.
