Mexican Institute of Sound and Meridian Brothers have announced the launch of “Tovar Noise”a joint work that will come next May 22 via Ansonia Records. As a letter of introduction, both projects share “El champion”, another preview after “Cumbia Fantasía” and “Cumbia de los Estudiantes” that hints at the hybrid nature of the album.
The song is inspired by the sounds of Latin America in the 60s, mixing cumbia and rock & roll with electronic contaminations and ironic lyrics.
“El champion” anticipates the style of an album that is presented as a dialogue between two creative universes that converge around tropical music. The creation process took place at the beginning of 2025 between the meeting of Camilo Lara (IMS) and Eblis Álvarez (Meridian Brothers)inspired by the sound crossovers that marked the Latin American scene between the late sixties and early eighties. “Ruido Tovar” incorporates elements of danzón, son or chachachá, combining a production that moves between analog and contemporary.
The album will also include the collaboration of the American musician beckin a tribute to the musical heritage of Mexico and Colombia that we can listen to digitally starting May 22 and live next July 10, in the But room in Madrid.
