INFANTA is the alias of Ainara Rodríguez, a singer from Bilbao living in Madrid who has only been in music for a few years. Ainara, who is also a tattoo artist, videographer, graphic designer and model, initially became known with the Rexxiana project, but since 2023 she has used the name INFANTA to release her new compositions.
Rexxiana’s sound, linked to industrial music, evolves in INFANTA, positioning Ainara in a lineage of Spanish artists who have used the sinister rhythms of EBM to express their feelings and concerns; artists who also include Ultraplayback, Alma-X or, to a greater or lesser extent, Putilatex.
The bellicose and accelerated rhythms of the EBM are very present in INFANTA’s music, courtesy of its usual producers, Frances Ribes, an artist from Madrid also known as Santa Monica; and Manu ScummV, member of SÝN and Aislamiento Total, who have produced INFANTA’s first hits, such as ‘Me quemo’, and also appear on their new EP, ‘Deseo Imperio’, released these days.
‘Deseo Imperio’ is the project that will take INFANTA to the next level of its career. His charisma runs through the five compositions of this work that “speaks of desire in different situations and forms.” In the words of her record company, Discos GELE, La Élite’s label, ‘Deseo Imperio’ is a work that evokes a parallel world in which “Susana Estrada is the vocalist of Crystal Castles.”
INFANTA’s voice, between sensualized and doomed to the abyss, together with the powerful bases, forms an explosive cocktail in songs like ‘Un secreto más’ or ‘Whiskyllora’, the Song of the Day for today, Tuesday. In ‘Whiskyllora’, INFANTA delivers a mechanized banger that serves to express his ultimate challenge: “We are going to lose control.” The crazy rhythmic base invites you to do so.
