Iggy Pop and Siouxsie recover “The Passenger” for a spot

Siouxsie Sioux adds to Iggy Pop to perform her classic “The Passenger” and use it in an advertisement for a popular ice cream brand.

After nine years missing from the media spotlight Siouxsie Sioux returns with the re-recording of the song, belonging to “Lust For Life“(77), along with her own creator, Iggy Pop. The artist already knew the topic well since, ten years after its premiere, Siouxsie And The Banshees They recreated it in “Though The Looking Glass” (87), a compilation of versions.

Both artists have commented on the mutual respect they have for each other and the great admiration for their own careers and songs. “I love how instinctive and spontaneous it feels, and hearing my voice next to Iggy's is a dream,” Sioux confirmed. The song cannot be heard in full and we will have to wait to see if it is uploaded to streaming platforms or we are left with only these soft, ethereal seconds forming part of the ice cream commercial soundtrack.
