IDLES return with a new album. Almost three years after ‘CRAWLER’, ‘TANGK’, the new work from Bristol, will arrive on February 16.
The album, made up of 11 tracks, has been produced by Nigel Godrich, known for his work with Radiohead, and also by Kenny Beats (Vince Staples, BENEE) and Mark Bowen, guitarist of IDLES. The energy will be danceable, in Bowen’s own words: “With this album I want people to dance, I want people to feel the love that I need in my life, I want people to move.”
The first single from ‘TANGK’ does not contain any mystery: it is called ‘Dancer’ and invites you to get rid of your nerves by sweating on the track. The curiosity that ‘Dancer’ leaves behind is that it is a collaboration with the kings of dance, LCD Soundsystem: both James Murphy and Nancy Whang appear here doing backing vocals. The collaboration makes more sense than it seems, as IDLES and LCD Soundsystem have played together on tour.
IDLES will present ‘TANGK’ in 2024 on a tour that will pass through Spain. There will be two occasions to see them live in our country, on March 1 at the WiZink Center in Madrid, and on March 2 at the Sant Jordi Club in Barcelona. We leave you with the official tracklist of the album, and the video clip for ‘Dancer’.
