The guitarist and producer Mark Bowen has been the first member of IDLES to give news about what will be the group’s next work, to be published sometime next year.
In a recent interview for the British media NME, IDLES guitarist Mark Bowen, who has also recently been a producer for Florence + The Machine, has given the first clues about what we can expect from the next work of the band of which he is a part.
At the moment, the group would be working on the successor to “Tangk” (24), a work that, in Bowen’s words, “will be a return to basics. Five guys stuck in a room playing with their instruments.”
Although most of the talk was about his work with Florence and how glad he was to have been able to create music that took different paths than IDLES, the musician said he was really excited about what the guys in the group were doing together. They are working on composition again and, when using the phrase “back to basics”, he also said that he did not want to use it because he considered it a cliché, but that at the end of the day that was the reality. He also pointed out that the album would be recorded this year and that they are already thinking about the art of what the album will be.
