Ian Mackaye and Henry Rollins They’ve known each other since they were teenagers. Their friendship has continued over the years and will now bear fruit in their first joint project, still unnamed.
Henry Rollinsformer vocalist of black flag and later leader of Rollins Bandhas been a fan of the work of Ian Mackaye since its beginnings, following each of its projects (Teen Idles, Minor Threat, Embrace, Egg Hunt, Fugazi, The Evens, Coriky…). That’s why it was clear that, sooner or later, they had to work together on a project.
And that project came after Rollins urged Mackaye to get into the studio to record a few songs. At the moment it has been confirmed that they have recorded several songs in the legendary studios of Don Zientara –the man behind a good part of the great works of Washington DC and Dischord hardcore–, and with the collaboration of another legend of the scene, Eddie Janney (The Untouchables, Rites of Spring, One Last Wish, Happy Go Licky, Skewbald), who previously produced Embrace and who is also the brother of another famous musician, Eli Janney (Girls Vs Boys, and producer of a long list of groups). That is, a true all stars team of post-hardcore made in DC.
Now it remains to be seen when we will be able to listen to all this material, but we are counting the days until that is possible.
