Sevdaliza releases ‘No Me Cansaré’, her collaboration with Karol G. It is an important release for both of them: in the case of Sevdaliza, it is her first single since ‘Alibi’, and in Karol G’s, it is the first since ‘If before I would have known you.’ Both have been great international successes in the last year, especially in the Hispanic field, despite the fact that Sevda Alizadeh is Iranian, although it is true that her sound has been evolving towards Latin rhythms.
‘No Me Cansaré’ is written on a mid-tempo reggaeton basis and, both in terms of rhythm and melody, it is the typical Karol G song, which is confirmed by checking the composition credits, in which the name of Carolina Giraldo appears first. Melodically, it is as sweet a song as the author of ‘Provenza’ usually writes. The lyrics celebrate a healthy love. “You let me shine, I feel free even though I am yours / You don’t cut my wings, you let me fly,” says one of the verses.
Although it is the phrase “You protect my inner child” that inspires the video clip for ‘No Me Cansaré’, which draws on nostalgia showing the children’s versions of Sevdaliza and Karol G and, in addition, has been filmed in black and white.
Sevdaliza and Karol G recently coincided on the Tomorrow It Will Be Beautiful tour in Brazil, so the alliance between the two artists may come from there.
Sevdaliza has made her big leap into the mainstream this year thanks to ‘Alibi’, her single with Pabllo Vittar and Yseult that uses the melody of Totó la Momposina’s “Rosa, how beautiful you are.” ‘Alibi’ has gone viral on TikTok, has taken Spotify global and has been a success on several official lists in Europe and Latin America, especially in Portugal, where it has positioned itself at number 1; France or Brazil. It has also reached number 1 in Türkiye. In Spain the impact of ‘Alibi’ has been moderate.
Next, a remix of ‘Alibi’ with Anitta was released, copying the strategy of Sevdaliza’s previous single, ‘Ride or Die’ with Villano Antillano, which went viral after the release of its remix with Tokischa. Right now, ‘Alibi’ – in its original version – is positioned 59th overall on Spotify, surpassing 300 million streams on Spotify.
