Hunter Schafer denounces that her passport identifies her as a man

Curtaining the basic rights of trans people has been one of Donald Trump’s first objectives during his first month of presidency in the United States. Recently, Trump has decreed an executive order that declares that only two sexes are recognized, the male and the female, and that only the sex assigned to birth is valid.

This decision of course conflicts with the reality of millions of trans people, who during the administration of Donald Trump will be forced to carry official documents that do not reflect their gender identity. For Trump, sex and gender are the same.

Actress Hunter Schafer has decided to make this situation visible and has resorted to social networks to denounce that her new passport identifies her with the male sex, despite the fact that her documentation has recognized her with the female since adolescence. Schafer has had to process a new passport because he lost the previous one in Barcelona during a filming.

“Today I have found a tough reality and I feel that it is important to share this with everyone who is listening to me,” says the actress of ‘Euphoria’ in a video. «I do not upload this video to generate fear, or to create drama, or so that nobody comforts me because I don’t need it. But I think it is worth pointing out the reality of the situation. I was surprised because I didn’t think it would happen ».

Although Schafer recognizes his “privilege” as a white and famous person in the American context, the actress predicts that Trump’s biological and transgender decree will make her life “a little more difficult” in the coming years, in situations such as “having to give me up before Border Patrol agents surely more often than I would like or what is really necessary ». Schafer denounces that “I will never stop being trans” and send a message to Trump: “This administration can go to shit.”
