This edition of the band competition, whose registration period will remain open until July 2, will hold the final on September 26 in the San Bizente park in Barakaldo.
The Barakaldo City Council presented this morning the contest for the eighth consecutive year Hiriko Soinuakwhich will once again look for emerging artists from Euskadi. Among the prizes are still the recording, production and mastering of an album in the studios of Gaua Productions for the winning band of the main category and for the best band in Barakaldo. The winning proposals from BBK-Igualdad and Euskara will record an EP of 4 songs each. The registration period will be open until July 2.
The nine finalist proposals from the Principal, Barakaldo and BBK-Igualdad categories will perform live in a final that will take place on September 26 in the San Bizente park in Barakaldo. The winning Euskara proposal will be decided directly by the professional jury.
The winning projects of the four categories of the competition will perform on October 23 and 24 at the festival that will take place in the Herriko plaza, accompanying bands with renowned careers that will be announced later. Both the final and the festival will be free of charge. Regarding the data, the organization points out that “last year we had 39 proposals from Barakaldo registered, 27% of the total participants, with a growth of 30% compared to 2024. The representation of artists in Basque also increased, with a total of 64 registrations; and that of the projects that were eligible for the BBK-Equality award. In addition, participation in the contest has not stopped growing continuously since its first edition of 2019”.
In its previous editions, Hiriko Soinuak has awarded artists such as Sara Zozaya, Monday Potions, Laztana Laztana, Deep Sea Monk and Edgar Allan Pop, among others.
TO PARTICIPATE:
Filling out the registration form available in the following link and sending it to [email protected] until July 2 (day 2 included) along with 2 songs in mp3 format, a promotional photograph and a biography of the project and a photocopy of the DNI or registration certificate of the members of the group that proves their origin from the CAV. Musical projects that prove to have at least one component registered in Barakaldo will be eligible for the Best Barakaldo Artist award, in addition to the rest of the categories -if they meet the requirements indicated below-. Musical projects that prove that at least 50% of their members are women will be eligible for the BBK-Igualdad award, in addition to the rest of the categories -if they meet the requirements indicated below-.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:
All musical projects that meet the following requirements may register for the contest:
-The participating project must have at least one component registered in the Basque Autonomous Community.
-The components of the project must be over 16 years old.
-At the time of registration, participating projects may not have more than one album released, regardless of whether or not it is subject to a record contract.
-Themes must be original. If the organization so requires, authorship must be demonstrated.
-The Organization, in any of the phases of the Contest, may exclude those projects that do not meet the requirements established in the contest rules.
