Halsey has yet to reveal the release date of her new album, nor its tracklist. But now she has revealed its name and its concept, which is going to be more complex than it initially seemed.
The first thing we heard from Halsey’s new release was ‘The End’, a track in which Halsey revealed that she had fought for her life after being diagnosed with lupus and a type of lymphoma. Then came ‘Lucky’, with its Britney sample, and ‘Lonely Is the Muse’, a rather grungy track. Such variety must make sense.
The reason for all this mixing is that the album called ‘The Great Impersonator’ will be a concept album in which Halsey reflects on her identity. She asks herself what her career would have been like if she had debuted in the 2000s, the 90s, the 80s or the 70s, and therefore will show different facets inspired by different moments in music history.
That’s what can be understood in a teaser with fragments of songs and with different aesthetics, in which Halsey also hints that she has worked on this album as if it were her last.
