After revealing the cover and release date of their next album, the only thing left to know was the number of songs on ‘The Great Impersonator’. Today, we finally know that it will be made up of 18 songs. Halsey’s fifth album will be available on October 25.
Halsey has announced the tracklist with a close-up of different magic tricks that reveal the names: “For my next trick, the tracklist of ‘The Great Impersonator’,” she wrote in the caption of the post.
The first thing that stands out about the track list, in addition to its length, are the multiple time references. Specifically, in the song titled ‘Letter To God’, of which there are three different versions: in 1974, in 1983 and in 1998. Let us remember that ‘The Great Impersonator’ is a conceptual album in which the artist wonders what would have been of his career in different decades.
The singles released also have this facet. For example, we have the two-miler ‘Lucky’, with its Britney sample, and the nineties ‘Lonely Is The Muse’, closer to grunge. Likewise, Halsey’s own aesthetic will also present different inspirations. It all started with the single ‘The End’, in which she revealed that she had been battling lupus and lymphoma.
