HAIM and Bon Iver don’t want to “tie” their partner, but they do

HAIM reunite with Bon Iver on the deluxe of their latest album, ‘I Quit’, and the result is a pop song with country touches ready to be played on any romantic date. However, it’s not entirely a song about falling in love. ‘Tie you down’ is the Song of the Day.

Bon Iver and the Californian group are not new acquaintances. Justin Vernon has credits on two songs on the sisters’ album, while Danielle Haim also appears on ‘sABLE, FABLE’, the artist’s latest album. In this sense, ‘If Only I Could Wait’ has many similarities with ‘Tie You Down’. Both are a dreamy duet in which the melodies take on all the weight of the song.

The lyrics, on the other hand, talk about having opposite feelings in a relationship. About being a walking contradiction that doesn’t want to “tie” anyone, but at the same time wants a clear commitment to the other person. “I want you here, but I don’t know how not to tie you down,” Danielle Haim sings in the chorus. This one also sings about being “happy and sad” at the same time, which is driving her “crazy.”

Along with ‘Tie you down’, the HAIM deluxe includes two other songs: ‘The story of us’, which they describe as one of their favorites, and ‘Even the bad times’, one of the first they wrote for the new album.
