The Irish singer-songwriter Glen Hansard He died in a motorcycle accident during the early hours of Tuesday to Wednesday, in which only one vehicle was involved. The accident took place near Strawberry Beds, in Chapelizod, Dublin.
ATC Management has issued a brief statement in which it assures that “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Glen Hansard, who died this morning following a road traffic accident in Dublin. Glen’s family are deeply shocked and heartbroken by this tragic loss and respectfully request privacy at this very difficult time. The family appreciates the support received and would like to express their gratitude to the emergency services who attended the scene of the accident. As this matter remains the subject of an ongoing police investigation, no further comment will be made at this time.”
Glen Hansard He was a very beloved musician in our country, having starred in numerous tours in which he always left his indelible mark. In fact he was known, both for his role as lead singer and founding member of the Irish rock band The Frames, and for being half of the folk duo The Swell Season. The Irishman cut his teeth as a street musician, just like his character in the film “Eleven”which made him one of the few independent authors to have an Oscar for Best Original Song for “Falling Slowly.”
After publishing “Transmissions East” last April, and the new singles “Revelate” and “Her Mercy”, on June 26 their latest release titled “Dons’t Settle (Vol 2 Transmissions East)” had been released, that is, the second installment of the sessions recorded live at the historic Funkhaus in Berlin. An album recorded over two nights in front of the Berlin public in April 2025, where the group brought together twenty songs that covered different stages of the Irish musician, including material from his solo albums, compositions with The Frames and songs from The Swell Season, the project he shared with Markéta Irglová. A work that now sounds like another epitaph of his career.
