Girls Aloud have announced a reunion tour. ‘The Girls Aloud Show’ will open on May 18 in Dublin and close on June 29 in Liverpool. The confirmed dates cover only the United Kingdom and Ireland (Glastonbury, which takes place from June 26 to 30, would fit into the agenda). Tickets for the Girls Aloud tour go on sale December 1.
Girls Aloud is now the quartet consisting of Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts. Sarah Harding passed away in 2021 as a result of breast cancer.
In a press release, Girls Aloud explained that their return to the stage was discussed long before Harding became ill, but that, once Harding received her diagnosis, “our priorities changed.” When Harding passed away, the group naturally found it “too soon” to reunite. 2022 was the year that truly marked Girls Aloud’s 20th anniversary.
Girls Aloud announced an indefinite hiatus in 2013, once their ‘Ten’ hits tour ended. Girls Aloud’s last official studio album, ‘Out of Control’, dates back to 2008. Separately, its members have undertaken musical projects: Nicola Roberts’ album was especially notable.
According to UK Official Charts, Girls Aloud “has not recorded” a new album, but the portal neither confirms nor denies that at least one new single will be released. It limits itself to reporting that the group “has not announced new material.”
