Ghouljaboy, aka of Jerez Jordi Arroyo, is another of those artists who have made a name exploring the limits between different musical styles. On albums such as ‘El Rascal’ (2020), ‘Dreamcore’ (2021) or the recent ‘Oh no Syzygy!’ (2023) Pop guitar influences, Post-Punk, Funk, Autotune, Vaporwave, indie to Strokes, long etcetera have fit influences. Ghouljaboy’s evolution is explained in his collaborations portfolio: he began associated with Yung Beef and then ended up collaborating with sound depression.
In ‘Dante Technicolor’, his new album, Ghouljaboy will delve into a sound that has already explored in the past, psychedelia, embodying the character that gives title to the album. ‘Dante Technicolor’ is put on sale in May through Mushroom Pillow.
‘Dante’ is the main character of ‘Dante Technicolor’ and titled the first advance of the album, composed of a fusion of industrial batteries and oppressive atmospheres that drag tiredly in the recording. In the second part the rhythms are encouraged and enervated, scared by a cry of terror.
The ‘Dante’ style, reminiscent of Yves tumor and advances an album in which Trip-Hop, indie-rock and trap sound of lsd. Above all, it is a psychic state of altered perception, in which Ghouljaboy faces the abyss (“sitting on the edge of a roof”) while surrounding a space that “stretches.” On the most extreme side, he seems to convince himself of his own immortality: “I think I’m eternal,” he sings.
