Malaga singer -songwriter Alba Lanced presents Matrix Citya conceptual album written from beauty but also from claim. Produced by Carlos Manzanares and with collaborations by Javier Ojeda and Jose, the album addresses the challenges of his generation in today’s world. Alba will present it live in Granada (April 4, Taberna JJ) and Malaga (April 19, Mars Sala).
Matrix City It is much more than a set of songs; It is a conceptual work that puts voice to the challenges of young people and not so much in an increasingly accelerated and mercantilized world. Through twelve issues, Alba addresses issues such as housing crisis, difficulty for emancipation, social pressure and identity search in an urban environment that, far from being a shelter, becomes a constant challenge. “The city, as an ecosystem in which our lives develop, is a kind of symbolic matrix that, unfortunately, is too many times intoxicated by the enormous difficulties and traps that hides, especially for youth,” says Alba Lab Lick. The artist also emphasizes that the album is her way of narrating the experience of a generation that struggles to find her place in a world full of obstacles: “I wanted to make an album that would talk about our reality without losing the emotion and beauty of music.”
The album explores issues such as gender equality, work precariousness and the daily effort of youth in a demanding multitasking mode. Songs like The city and Let me They address these issues with a poetic and vindictive approach. She It is inspired by Beat literature to portray uncertainty and the search for meaning in the city, while The skin It reflects that cosmopolitan character that describes the sound of an album that embraces the folklore from here and there. “Since childhood I have heard many types of music. The cover of Matrix City It is a piece of art in itself, conceived as a fusion between tradition and modernity. Illustrated with traditional technique by Sergio Camachoevokes the aesthetics of Julio Romero de Torres, but with a contemporary turn. The image represents a woman with a veil of pollution on her face, symbolizing the impact of the urban environment on identity and daily life. “It reflects that encounter between two worlds and leads us to think about how to solve and orient yourself at that crossroads,” explains Alba. The cover not only captures the essence of the album, but also reinforces its beauty search message in the middle of urban chaos.
The album has been produced by Carlos Manzanaresknown for his work with artists such as Kanka and Bitched. Production gives the parent city an instrumental wealth that mixes acoustic sounds with contemporary arrangements, achieving a balance between the classic and the modern. In addition, the album has the participation of artists such as Javier Ojeda, Jose and Ángela González, who have added their talent to this proposal.
