Future Islands share singles “The Ink Well” and “One Day,” album previews of rarities and other material “From a Hole in the Floor to a Fountain of Youth”.
The band has released “The Ink Well” and “One Day”, the new singles that preview “From a Hole in the Floor to a Fountain of Youth”, which will be released next May 22. The album, conceived as a double album, will include twenty songs, one for each year of the career. Four sides of vinyl to reflect the different stages of a band that has gone from being an emerging promise to being a benchmark of global indie and synth pop.
Far from opting for a traditional compilation with their greatest hits, the quartet will publish a very special collection, which will include rarities, fan favorite songs and alternative songs; a large part of the material that had never been available on streaming platforms. Thus, “The Ink Well” and “One Day” join the already released songs “Sail” and “Find Love” as previews of this very special album.
The idea for the project comes from the bassist William Cashionwho also gives meaning to the title. As he explains, the metaphor connects everyday life with the magic of achieving dreams. With this release, Future Islands claim their artistic depth, demonstrating a sensitivity based on subtlety and emotion.
“From a Hole in the Floor to a Fountain of Youth” will be available in digital format, CD and double color vinyl, consolidating a journey that celebrates both its past and its constant evolution.
