Franz Ferdinand version Britney Spears with orchestra

Franz Ferdinand published in early 2025 his sixth studio album, ‘The Human Fear’. An album that Alex Kapranos and his people have been presenting in Spain during this February, with three concerts in A Coruña, Madrid and Barcelona.

The promotion of ‘The Human Fear’ has continued in the United Kingdom, and Franz Ferdinand have spent this week through the BBC Radio 2 studies in London to record a version of ‘Toxic’ by Britney Spears, accompanied by an orchestra. In the hands of Franz Ferdinand, ‘Toxic’ sounds even more like a song taken from the James Bond soundtrack.

The choice of Franz Ferdinand is not accidental: in 2009 his version of ‘Womanizer’ was very commented also recorded in some BBC studies, although then they were those of Radio 1. Version Spears, Franz Ferdinand are dialogue with their own history.

Although it was not necessary, Alex Kapranos has justified his choice of song, explaining that “I like a good song, it’s that simple, I don’t care if the song is 60 years old or if it came out six days ago.” In addition, Kaprano has praised Chappell Roan, from which he appreciates his music and attitude.

‘Toxic’ has just been sample in a single coconut single, ‘Taste’, although in Spears’s spotify has just descended to the second place of his most popular songs: he has imposed ‘Gimme More’.
