In the times we live in, it is impossible to dedicate the attention it deserves to each project. With so many releases, it is normal that many great albums are forgotten or go unnoticed. This is the case of Fousheé and ‘Pointy Heights’, his third album and one of the best constructed R&B and neo soul projects of 2024. ‘feel like home’ is the Song of the Day.
Brittany Fousheé started making noise in 2020 after the success of the song ‘Deep End Freestyle’, by rapper Sleepy Hallow, in which the American singer lent her voice. A year later, the full song, ‘deep end’, came out. A strange case of sampling in reverse.
Since then, the 28-year-old artist has collaborated with figures such as Childish Gambino and Steve Lacy. The latter, in fact, has collaborated both in the composition and in the production of ‘Pointy Heights’, classically inspired but grounded in the present. The same goes to describe the sound of ‘feel like home’, with a very successful vintage touch.
It is clear that Fousheé knows who to surround himself with. Thus we can see Jean Baptiste Kouame in the credits of the song, a figure who is also behind hits like ‘Paint The Town Red’ or ‘Boom Boom Pow’. Fousheé’s great ease and skill with melodies shines on this cut, which speaks of a powerful attraction: “There’s a connection, of course, I feel the desire from time to time,” Brittany sings in the first line.
