Although he started out in jazz, we all know of the affinity of Flea, bassist of Red Hot Chili Peppers, with the American hardcore scene. But the truth is that no one expected him to be the one to share the first trailer for the documentary film about the charismatic Harley Flanaganleader and founder of the heavy hardcore band Cro-Magsa benchmark in its genre.
The project had been kept secret, although it continues to be so since the musician has not provided new information about it other than the trailer. And the truth is that it promises a lot, since Flanagan’s life is one of the most unique in the history of hardcore, as he himself discovered to us in his autobiography years ago. What can be said about a hardcore musician who met Andy Warhol when he was just a teenager? His musical career began at the age of eleven in 1978, being a drummer for a punk band and later starting his career with Cro-Mags.
The documentary promises: “hardcore, violence, creativity, confusion and chaos”, almost nothing. What we do know is that musicians like Henry Rollins or Darryl Jenifer (Bad Brains).
