Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) covers Frank Ocean in his new single

Fleafounding member of Red Hot Chili Peppershas released “Thinkin bout you”, a new preview of what will be his debut solo album. And it is nothing less than a version of Frank Ocean.

After the publication in December of “A plea” and in January of “Traffic lights” with Thom Yorke, Flea shares an orchestrated instrumental version of “Thinkin bout you” by Frank Ocean. This is the new preview single from his imminent solo album “Honor”which will be published on March 27 through Nonesuch. “Thinkin bout you” features a performance by Flea on electric bass and trumpet, with Anna Butters on double bass and a glorious string section arranged and orchestrated by Nate Walcott (Bright Eyes).

“Honor” contains collaborations from Thom Yorke, Nick Cave either Warren Ellis and has been recorded with a cast of luxury musicians that includes the guitarist Jeff Parker (Tortoise), Anna Butters (Jason Isbell, Andrew Bird) on double bass, drummer Deantoni Parks (KUDU, The Mars Volta), Brazilian percussionist Mauro Refosco (David Byrne, Atoms for Peace, Red Hot Chili Peppers). In addition, the album contains six original songs and covers of Frank Ocean, George Clinton, Jimmy Webb and Ann Ronell.

After five decades leading one of the best rock groups of the 20th and 21st centuries, Flea has found the time and space to record this album.
