Fcukers’ ‘Lonely’ is asking for a remix with PinkPantheress

The new album by Fcukers, the New York duo formed by Shannon Wise and Jackson Walker Lewis, is on everyone’s lips and no wonder. ‘Ö’ was released last Friday with a new lead single, the ‘ear candy’ from ‘Lonely’. It’s the Song of the Day.

Fcukers don’t settle for a single sound on their debut album, beyond being described as electronic music. Thus, the influences of 90s house, reggae, electroclash and trip hop appear throughout the project. The sound of ‘Lonely’ is not as pounding as ‘LUCKY’ or ‘Beatback’, released as singles.

Just as its title evokes, ‘Lonely’ is calm. That is, of course, until the post-chorus arrives, which does take us completely back to the 90s club scene. The beat, skeletal and digital, and its great melody directly evoke the best hits of PinkPantheress, who also constantly plays with nostalgia in his music. When is the remix coming?

In the lyrics, Fcukers show their romantic side. Wise sings about loving someone always, at all times, unconditionally: “I love you all the time / You know the grip you have,” he intones in the verses. The artist does not want this person to leave her “when the morning comes,” because the feeling “never goes away.” However, in the middle of the rave Wise makes it clear that there is a way for it all to end: “The only girl in the world you need / Look the other way and you’ll lose me entirely.”
