In September we will be able to listen to what will be the second album of SOPHIEa posthumous album that will delight his fans and, at the same time, will help us better understand his influence on the international electronic-pop underground scene. Now “Exhilarate” is released with Bibi Bourelly.
“Exhilarate” is the second piece that we can hear from what will be SOPHIE’s second and posthumous work after “Reason Why”, in which we could also hear Kim Petras and BC Kingdom.
“Exhilarate” was written by SOPHIE, Bibi and Kennedi Lykken (Dua Lipa, Kesha). Bibi (Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus) fits perfectly into the universe of the late SOPHIE. The album will include material that SOPHIE was producing at the time of her death with her brother Benny LongTo complete it, Long has enlisted the help of people very close to the Scot. In fact, the album was almost finished at the time of her tragic death.
“SOPHIE” The album will be released on September 27th via Transgressive and Future Classic. “When we, Sophie’s family, took the first steps to make this project a reality, we reached out to very dear friends with whom she envisioned the album. We wrote: “We have been finding solace in the music Sophie left us, it is a gift we truly cherish as we try to find a way forward, with Sophie always at the center of our worlds,” Long notes. “Sophie did not often speak publicly about her private life, preferring to put everything she wanted to express into her music. It is only right that she share with the world the music she hoped to release, with the belief that we can all connect with her in this way, the way she loved the most. This album has always told the story of Sophie’s musical journey, a cacophony of skill and creative vision that eclipses time and genre. Her unique sound world moves on an emotional level, encouraging the listener to intuitively embrace the ever-evolving landscape of light and dark, soft and hard, all the way to self-love and joyful self-acceptance. Excelling in the contradictions of sound and material, Sophie’s work transcends the purely auditory to create the dimension she had dreamed of. Now, it has another poignant meaning, telling the story of a life, from the mysteriously unknown, through wild clublands, to euphoric immateriality. Sophie gave herself completely to her music. It is here that she can always be found,” concludes her brother.
So, “SOPHIE” joins his first album “OIL OF EVERY PEARL’S UN-INSIDES”which was released in 2018, and the compilation of previous singles that was released in 2015 under the name “PRODUCT”. By bringing all this material together we will discover the importance of SOPHIE as an artist and better understand her broad influence on the underground electronic-pop scene of recent years.
