The Bizkaitar band Etxekalte presents us with the first preview of his second full-length album, which will be released in autumn via Balaunka.
The quartet Etxekalte is back with the first single from a new album that will mark a new stage in terms of sound and discourse. The song “Azkena izan da” addresses the tension between the legacy received and what we will leave in the future. In the current frenetic pace, where priorities are blurred and the tendency to postpone decisions predominates, the band takes a critical look at the inertia of our time. On an instrumental level, the band reinforces its sound with catchy melodies and changing dynamics, from atmospheric passages to explosive moments, they bring a special strength to the song, combined with elements of contemporary production.
Etxekalte is a group founded in Bermeo in 2015 by Unai Irisarri and Iker Etxebarria, who were soon joined by Iñaki Olondo and Jon Andoni Juarez. Since its beginnings it has not stopped playing and searching for its sound. Their music, influenced by the styles of the 90s and the first decade of the 2000s (grunge, hardcore, post-hardcore, post-rock, melodic rock, alternative rock), is characterized by melodic voices, dirty guitars, and strong rhythms. Furthermore, their music is linked to the band’s values, the commitment to their land and culture, through constant references to the place they come from.
They debuted with their first EP “Gure Hizkeran” (2019), later the split arrived with Habi “Arimak Denboran” (Elkar, 2020), and two years later he published his first album, “Nor Da Norbera?” (Elkar, 2022), included among the best albums of the year by our Euskadi, Navarra and La Rioja (Zarata) edition. In 2024, their next and last release was published, already through the Balaunka label, the double single “Inertziak Estali”. The quartet, currently formed by Unai Irisarri (voice and guitar), Aritz Lertxundi (bass), Iker Etxebarria (drums) and Iñaki Olondo (backing vocals and guitar), will release their second album in the fall.
