The band from Bermeo has joined the poster of the Xixili Festibalawhich will take place on October 2 and 3 in the coastal town.
The quartet Etxekalte presents “Espaloietik”, the third preview of his next album after “Azkena izan da” and “Kantu bat egin dizut”. A new song that confirms, as they already announced with the first of the previews, that this new stage will come accompanied by changes both in the sound and in the band’s speech.
Sung in Basque, “Espaloietik” addresses the most emotional side of the group and talks about their own ups and downs, establishing a dialogue between the past and the present. Its message invites us to make decisions, take risks and stop moving along the sidelines, with the idea that the future begins in the present and also depends on us.
Musically, the song starts from a contained beginning with few elements to gradually grow until it recovers the usual intensity of Etxekaltealso supported by choruses with a clear chantable vocation.
The video clip this time focuses on the band members themselves and combines images recorded during the creation process of the new album with material from their early years. The musicians themselves have been in charge of both the recording and editing of the piece.
Etxekalte is a group founded in Bermeo in 2015 by Unai Irisarri and Iker Etxebarria, which Iñaki Olondo and Jon Andoni Juarez joined shortly after. Since then, the band has been developing a sound influenced by grunge, hardcore, post-hardcore, post-rock and alternative rock of the nineties and early two thousand, combining melodic vocals, dirty guitars and hard-hitting rhythms. His music also maintains a strong link with his land and his culture, regularly present in his lyrics and references.
They debuted with the EP “Gure Hizkeran” (2019), which was followed by the split with Habi “Arimak Denboran” (Elkar, 2020) and his first album, “Nor Da Norbera?” (Elkar, 2022), included among the best albums of the year by our edition of Euskadi, Navarra and La Rioja (Zarata). In 2024 they published, already with Balaunka, the double single “Inertziak Estali”. Currently, Etxekalte is made up of Unai Irisarri (vocals and guitar), Aritz Lertxundi (bass), Iker Etxebarria (drums) and Iñaki Olondo (backing vocals and guitar), and will release his second album this fall.
