There are festivals that do not disappear: they hibernate. El Escárrago Rock, one of the great symbols of alternative musical culture in Spain, begins a new life from the same place where it all began. Huétor Tájar once again becomes the epicenter of a way of understanding music as identity, territory and community with the celebration of the +Asparagus Music and Sound Festivalwhich will take place on Saturday March 14 in it Multiple Use Pavilion of the Granada municipality.
Far from being a simple look at the past, the festival is presented as a conscious reincarnation: same origin, same attitude and a direct connection with the present. El Escárrago returns as a speaker for popular culture, mestizo rock, uncomfortable noise and all those scenes that have always grown outside of dominant discourses.
The poster for this edition connects generations and languages without losing coherence or edge. They lead it Def With Twoabsolute leaders of state rap-punk celebrate three decades on the road and the anniversary of their legendary album Mutant at the doors; the granadinos Zulu Timewithout a doubt the masters in fusing metal, rap and Andalusian roots and with new material under their arm; and the visceral author rock of Poncho K. Along with them, the overwhelming energy of the Galician duo BULLETthat new generation of artists who, from the roots to the tips, break the molds of popular music and who take into account Gore and Quentin Gas and Los Zingaros its greatest references, and of course the green shoots of our scene with the irreverent punk of the people of Seville Arrecio and the closeness rumb’n’roll of Neighborhood Superheroesthe new project of musicians already known in the Genil plain.
But he +Asparagus Music and Sound Festival It is more than a poster: it is a declaration of intentions. The project is based on three clear pillars—agriculture, tourism and culture—reclaiming the asparagus as an identity symbol and economic engine, and recovering the role of Huétor Tájar as a fundamental enclave in the history of state rock.
With a clear commitment to accessibility, safety and popular prices, the festival keeps alive the inclusive spirit that has always defined Asparagus. More than a return, what happens in Huétor Tájar is a natural continuity. El Asparagus does not return to occupy a spot on the calendar, but to remember where we come from and why music, when it is born from the land and the people, continues to make sense. Rock springs up again. And it does it from its roots.
