Katy Perry is suffering one of the worst backlashes possible with the release of her latest single, ‘Woman’s World’. Dire reviews in The Guardian and Pitchfork, questions on social media for having worked with Dr Luke (which by the way did not affect Doja Cat in some of her biggest hits)… but what data has the song obtained on its first day?
‘Woman’s World’ appears at number 58 on Spotify’s Global Chart with 2.2 million streams on the first day. The song has received medium-low attention in all countries, without any of them being overly enthusiastic. Brazil is its main support and is in the top 53. It is at number 108 in the UK and at number 110 in the USA, so it could be left out of both official top 100. Spain is not an option, as it has not even reached the top 200.
These are very modest figures for a Katy Perry song, and the fact that it fell out of the top 200 on the second day made worse. In any case, her team seems to have plenty of material to react to, as many of the songs for which teasers have been shown are promising, such as ‘Lifetimes’.
I just watched the Katy Perry/Zane Lowe interview & I don’t even need to hear the album to know that “Lifetimes” is my favorite song! It’s peak 90s house dance music. It’s Kylie vibes. Walking On Air vibes. Shoulda been the lead. She HAS to make a video for that song! @Katy Perry pic.twitter.com/ok2HaZckWO
