This Wednesday, September 11, a new MTV Video Music Awards gala will be held in New York and Eminem has been chosen to perform the opening act. Chapell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter and Katy Perry will also perform their own numbers.
This will be the second time that the author of the recent ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)’ presents the awards. He did so in 2010 with ‘Not Afraid’ and ‘Love the Way You Lie’, alongside Rihanna. In addition, the rapper could become the most awarded male artist in the history of the awards.
He is currently tied with Peter Gabriel with 13 awards, so he would only need to take home one of the eight nominations he has received this year.
Taylor Swift leads the nominations, with Billie Eilish, Chapell Roan, Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter among the favourites. Megan Thee Stallion will also host the gala and Katy Perry will receive the MTV Vanguard Award, reserved for the most visionary artists in the world of music videos.
