Elton John and Brandi Carlile, together on a new collaborative album

Elton John and Brandi Carlile have announced the details of their new collaborative album, ‘Who Believes in Angels?’, Who will go on sale on April 4. They have also revealed the new single from the album, of a homonymous title.

The album will mix songs led by Elton and songs led by Brandi, with the long-term collaborator Bernie Taupin and Brandi contributing to the lyrics, and the producer and co-writer Andrew Watt acting as producer, mediator and creative duct.

According to the press release, John and Carlile “pushed each other outside their comfort areas” to write and record an album from scratch in just 20 days. Both stars were backed by a band of world -class musicians composed of Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Pino Palladino (Nine Inch Nails, Gary Numan and David Gilmour) and Josh Klinghoffer (Pearl Jam, Beck).

It is the first time that the British artist allows cameras to record their writing and recording sessions. The static cameras placed around the study captured thousands of hours of gross material, documenting the entire creative process: “This album has been one of the toughest I have done, but also one of the best musical experiences of my life,” he said declared Elton John.
