Ela Minus seeks euphoria with a “broken” heart

Ela Minus, the Colombian singer and producer whom we met for her pop-techno hits ‘megapunk’ or ‘heaven is not anyone’s’, included in her debut album, ‘acts of rebellion’ (2020), returns with his second full-length work. ‘Dia’ goes on sale on January 17 and includes the preview ‘Combat’, as well as the new single that has been released.

‘Broken’ is immediately one of Ela Minus’ best productions. Dedicated to the techno euphoria for which it has become known, ‘Broken’ soars, driven by a rich melody and a production that knows how to go from less to more. It’s today’s Song Of The Day.

If Ela Minus was ever compared to Björk, in ‘Broken’ that similarity comes true in its pointillist intro. Then, when the song takes off, it reminds us of ‘Hyperballad’… although in reality the progressive house of Underworld seems to be the direct influence. Ela Minus is also interested in visiting that futuristic world, full of possibility… although the lyrics find her with a “broken” heart.

It is a story of (dis)love that inspires Ela Minus to “write melodies” to sing her “sadness.” They are words quoted from the lyrics. Ela has been “pretending” for a long time, deceiving herself, ignoring her own feelings. But he can’t take it anymore. In the chorus, he vents by shooting the melody into the air as if it were a rocket, releasing his emotions.
