Hits
Of the 3 albums released at the same time by Drake, there is one that has established itself on the charts. This is ‘Iceman’, which was announced from the beginning as the main album of this era. That album, which was number 1 in the United States and the United Kingdom, spends its 4th week at number 1 in the United States and also climbs one to number 3 in the UK.
The singles that are supporting this Drake release are ‘Janice STFU’, ‘National Treasures’ and ‘Shabang’.
It is true that the other two albums have fallen: in its fourth week ‘Maid of Honor’ is top 28 in the United States and top 64 in the UK and ‘Habibti’ is number 84 in the United Kingdom, although beware, this one holds up at number 14 in the United States.
In Spain, Drake hasn’t had a hit for a long time and the only thing left on the charts is ‘Iceman’, which was number 8 here and drops to number 38 in its 4th week. But the devotion they feel towards him in Anglo-Saxon countries is so great (number 1 in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Sweden, etc.), that it is enough for ‘Iceman’ to have sold the equivalent of 1 million copies according to Mediatraffic. Another year of success for Drake, although some didn’t give a damn for him.
Flops
Lizzo hasn’t even managed to chart with ‘Bitch’. And here the analysis of this era would end. His album has not even managed to reach an official top 100 in any country. In comparison, ‘Cuz I Love You’ (2019) was top 4 in the US and top 30 in the UK. And ‘Special’ was top 2 in the United States and top 6 in the UK.
The data is so disastrous that at times we thought there would be no physical edition of the album, but Fnac, for example, does have a CD and a red vinyl available. Even so, the album has only managed to reach number 46 in sales in the United States, being left out of the entire Billboard 200 when counting streaming; and at number 83 in downloads in the United Kingdom.
The artist justified her bad data by blaming streaming because she “was a radio favorite”, but it’s hard to believe when ‘About Damn Time’ and ‘Truth Hurts’ have around 1 billion streams on Spotify. The most listened to songs from ‘Bitch’ – ‘Don’t Make Me Love U’ and ‘BITCH’ – total only 2 million streams, figures typical of a local semi-indie artist.
