Drake equals Michael Jackson’s 13 number 1 hits in the US

“I’m one away from matching Michael” is one of the phrases that Drake sings in ‘First Person Shooter’, one of the songs included on his latest album, ‘For All the Dogs’. ‘First Person Shooter’ is the number 1 song in the United States this week.

With ‘First Person Shooter’, Drake effectively equals Michael Jackson’s record of 13 No. 1 singles in the United States. In this tie, both Drake and Michael are the two solo men who have accumulated the most number 1 singles on the Billboard, but they are fourth in the general ranking, since they are surpassed by the Beatles with 20 number 1s, Mariah Carey with 19, and Rihanna with 14 .

‘First Person Shooter’, one of the standout songs from Drake’s disappointing album, also cites the title of ‘Beat It’. Drake has celebrated ‘First Person Shooter’ number 1 by uploading a montage of Michael wearing an OVO sweatshirt, Drake’s label, to Instagram.

It is worth mentioning, as Stereogum recalls, that Drake’s last single that remained at number 1 for several weeks was ‘In My Feelings’, from 2018. His recent number 1s, such as ‘Way 2 Sexy’ or ‘Slime You Out’ with SZA, you have reached the top, but have fallen in your second week.

On the other hand, ‘For All the Dogs’ is number 1 album in the United States… and also in the United Kingdom, something that Drake did not achieve with his previous work, ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ (2022). In Spain, ‘For All the Dogs’ debuted at number 15.

Here are Drake’s 13 number 1 singles on Billboard:
‘What’s My Name’ by Rihanna, featuring Drake (2010)
‘Work’ by Rihanna, with Drake (2016)
‘One Dance’ (2016)
‘God’s Plan’ (2018)
‘Nice for What’ (2018)
‘In My Feelings’ (2018)
‘Toosie Slide’ (2020)
‘What’s Next’ (2021)
‘Way 2 Sexy’ (2021)
‘Wait for U’ by Future, featuring Drake & Tems (2022)
‘Jimmy Cooks’ (2022)
‘Slime You Out’ featuring SZA (2023)
‘First Person Shooter’ with J. Cole (2023)
