Download Festival, mobiles and smartwatches out of the moshpits

We do not know if it will become a norm in the rock, metal or punk festivals, but this past weekend The British Download Festival He has asked people not to enter the moshpits with phones and smartwatches.

As the British media and the festival themselves reported this weekend, the Download asked their assistants not to enter the moshpits, in the pogos, with mobile phones and smartwatches to avoid the accidental emergency calls. The event has been requested in collaboration with the Donington Park Local Police. Or at least they are put in a plane mode and with disabled emergency calls.

The truth is that it is difficult to imagine a festival with artists such as Korn, Green Day either Sleep Token Without pogos, so since that is inevitable, the organizers have asked attendees to enter them without mobile phones and without smart watches. The reason is that the police denounce that it is very common that during the pogos there are about seven hundred emergency calls that are made accidentally between blows and elbows.

The forces of the order say that, in previous years, those calls have exceeded the seven hundred and that they are forced to follow them in case they were real emergencies, although in most cases they found that they were young people who were involved in the massive pogos of the festival. And it is clear that the pogos were inevitable with the artists cited or with others such as Sex Pistols & Frank Carter, Jimmy Eat World, Poppy, Eagles of Death Metal, Spiritbox, Meshuggah and many others who were part of the festival poster.

We will see if Spanish festivals take some similar measure in their next editions or if it simply remains a curiosity in the United Kingdom.
