Dolly Parton conquers the global Top, not so much the Spanish one

The death of Dolly Parton has shocked the world for several reasons, since not long ago she was causing war, and this is reflected in the voracity with which platform users have once again consumed her catalog.

Parton’s death occurred on Tuesday, it was known late that day in Europe, and it is therefore in Wednesday’s data that her songs have taken a huge leap. ‘Jolene’ is the new global number 1 on Spotify, as well as on Apple Music. Additionally, on Spotify ‘9 to 5’ appears at number 2; and ‘Islands in the Stream’, at number 4. These are the songs that the country queen has placed on the Swedish platform’s Global:

#1: Jolene — 4,727M
#2: 9 to 5 — 3,948M
#4: Islands In The Stream — 3,451M
#28: I Will Always Love You — 2.293M
#45: Coat Of Many Colors — 1,962M
#62: Here You Come Again — 1,753M
#162: My Tennessee Mountain Home — 1,254M

Analyzing the metadata, as happened in life, and as is natural for a country artist, they are much more enthusiastic in Anglo-Saxon countries. ‘Jolene’ is number 1 this Wednesday in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland and Sweden, as well as number 2 in Canada, Holland, New Zealand and Switzerland.

In countries whose mother tongue is of Latin origin, ‘Jolene’ has a more modest entry: position 36 on Spotify France, position 85 on Spotify Spain, position 98 on Spotify Italy.

In our country, this song that Beyoncé adapted is the only one we find in the Top 200. In any case, there are very few days left for ‘Jolene’ and ‘9 to 5’ to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify. The first was already at 950 million with Dolly alive; and the second, almost 900.

Did you know that Dolly Parton wrote her hits 100% alone
