Doja Cat opens up about addictions, alcohol problems and self-hate

Doja Cat has had an introspective moment with her fans thanks to her latest TikTok videos. The artist, who this year has only appeared as a collaborator on Latto’s song ‘Okayyy’ after releasing the album ‘Vie’ at the end of 2025, has taken advantage of her reach to open up about her past cocaine addiction, problems with alcohol and serious lack of self-esteem, while encouraging her viewers not to follow the same path.

«I have had problems with cocaine. I think it was like eight years ago, but I’ve completely overcome it,” begins the American artist. We can assume then that this was a conflict that he lived with during the time of the release of his first album, ‘Amala’. However, minutes later, Doja assures that she has never had “drug problems” and focuses on alcohol.

She says that drinking caused her negative thoughts and that she used the Internet as a form of “validation” of those same ideas: “I have never been an alcoholic, but I had problems.” She goes on to clarify that “it is not a good idea to pair these two things”: “Be creative and take care of yourselves: you are not indestructible,” she advised.

Doja Cat also admitted to hating himself, describing it as “very obvious”: “I even verbalized it out loud when I was 16. “I think I hated myself since I was 8 years old, since I moved to my predominantly white neighborhood,” she confessed. In conclusion, Doja claims to feel calm: «The only thing I can do is go through all that, and that’s what I have done. “I also think it’s very important to talk about it in public because a lot of people don’t talk about this shit.”
