C Tangana returns with Mora's 'drugs'

Does the new drug and C. Tangana carry ‘drug’?

‘Drug’ of Mora and C. Tangana has managed to unseat ‘the full’ of the number 1 of Spotify Spain, where he had been more than two months. In addition, the distance between both themes is extended day by day in favor of the collateral return of Puchito. The same situation occurs in Apple Music: on this other platform we are also talking about the most popular song in Spain. Although the song did not come out on Friday, it is a matter of time that is number 1 official in our country, because as the days go by, its popularity is not decreasing, but quite the opposite.

In this article we offer you an opinion in favor and another against ‘drugs’.

«’Drug’ is not the song I expected from C. Tangana four years after ‘El Madrid’s’. As an accelerated bachata, it is a step back for someone who has already given us ‘atheist’. But there the Peros end up for this Mora International Single – the Portarriqueño is the main artist – in which they have intervened as Sky producers, Neneto, the Alizzz and Chrome Catalan.

The theme does “drugs” of good when it offers phrases as universal as “I don’t know why the fuck I write to you again, but forgive the time.” Humor when he jokes about unprotected sex inside the couple who has just broken (“I don’t want to look for you or have to buy Durex”) and add hooks and more hooks until he reaches that wonderful outro in which he dominates the use of a guitar that could also be a mandolin. After all, Italy was the scenario of the extinct romance: “If it were for me, I would know you / to change your things, except those powders / well crazy on the balcony with Italy in the background.” Sebas E. Alonso.

«I have nothing especially negative than to say ‘drug’ in the technical sense. The song is well built from all points of view, the composition is concerned with offering introduction, knot and outcome, the melody for being dynamic, the production by adding texture. ‘Drug’ is a song so careful that it almost reaches four minutes.

Mora and C. Tangana are accomplices of this bachata of heartbreak that reminds us of how biased the white vision of Latin music can be: we always talk about “fashions” as if this type of rhythms did not sound all the time, every day, everywhere, in countries that are not Spain, by local artists. C. Tangana was no pioneer making bachata in ‘Atheo’ when we analyzed his proposal within the context of Latin American music.

However, C. Tangana has been a pioneer in other areas and, in this collaborative role, he simply throws the cable to his guild colleague. “I have tried to meditate” is an unusual phrase in pop; The artistic proposal of ‘drugs’ is more common, which looks back back (2017) than forward and fits the sound that the system asks for the system without answering it in any way. Personally, I am a little saturated with the autotuned vocal melodies of urban music and perhaps that makes my connection with ‘drugs’ not finish curdling. It seems to me an unimportant proposal and that does not raise any enthusiasm or surprise. Is it well done? Yes. Does something move me? To be honest no”. Jordi Bardají
