Doechii recreates ‘Cosas de casa’ in the video for ‘Denial is a River’

Doechii, the latest rap revelation in the United States, will release the video for ‘Denial is a River’ today, January 2, one of the standout songs from his latest mixtape, ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal’ (2024). The premiere is at 11 a.m. US time, 5:00 p.m. in Spain.

The video for ‘Denial is a River’ will be inspired by ‘Cosas de casa’, and the trailer, which recreates the opening sequence of the series, shows cameos by rappers such as Schoolboy Q, Teezo Touchdown or Earl Sweatshirt turned into «Brad Pitt ».

‘Denial is a River’ is one of the best songs on Doechii’s album because of its classic sound and its overflowing personality. The beat created by three hands by IanJames, Joey Hamhock and Banser draws on the sound of old-school hip-hop, but Doechii’s vocal performance refers to the gasps of Missy Elliott and the growls of Nicki Minaj.

The lyrics of ‘Denial is a River’ cover the sudden success of Doechii, who continues to score “hits and Platinum Records”, as well as the obsession of record companies with TikTok or drug use.

But, above all, ‘Denial is a River’ talks about the day Doechii discovered that her ex was cheating on her with another man. She has had to deny that the phrase “turns out the girl was a doubt” is related to trans people. The title of ‘Denial is a River’ is a play on the name of the Nile River, in English “The Nile”, and comes from a phrase expressed by presenter Wendy Williams during a radio program in 2006, when He was addressing a listener who called because she suspected that her husband was bisexual: “Denial is a river in Egypt, your husband is gay.”
