The Spanish Wave opens a single call to open the two concerts that John Lydon –known as Johnny Rotten during his time with the Sex Pistols– and his band Public Image Ltd will perform in our country next May.
Public Image Ltd, the historic post-punk band led by Lydon, confirmed a few months ago that their new tour “This Is Not The Last Tour” He was going to pass through Spain, specifically Barcelona and Madrid, cities that are part of his itinerary through Europe and the United Kingdom.
The call is unique to select an artist or band from our country to open the concerts in Barcelona and Madrid. The two concerts will take place on the days May 29 (Sala Razzmatazz 2, Barcelona) and May 30 (Sala But, Madrid). You can sign up for the call at this same link. And hurry up because it ends on Wednesday, April 8 at 11:59 p.m.
PiL were born in 1978 after Lydon’s time as the lead singer of the Sex Pistols, although they soon became a project with their own personality with which the sound of post-punk was renewed, pointing out different paths and combining previous genres to take us to new terrain. Throughout their career, they signed essential works such as “Metal Box” (79) or the success of songs like “This Is Not a Love Song” (1983), in addition to accumulating several singles and albums in the Top 20 in the United Kingdom. His sound, always evolving, has influenced several generations of artists
This new tour comes at a particularly significant time for Lydon. After a very difficult personal period – the loss of his wife Nora in April 2023 and the sudden death of his manager and close friend, John “Rambo” Stevens, in December of the same year – the vocalist came to think that he would not perform with PiL again. However, the public response during his recent tour of spoken word in the United Kingdom he changed that course.
