Denon: 10 new features of 2020

Denon Logo

The company Denon is one of the oldest electronic companies in Japan, turning 110 years old in 2020. The company had the honor of creating the first audio recording of the words of Emperor Hiroito of Japan in 1945 at the end of World War II.

The origin of the name of the company, which was originally called Nippon’DENKi ONkyo Kabushikigaisha’, was the abbreviation of said name, obtaining DEN-ON in Japanese.

The creation of the company took place in 1910 and was part of the consortium of Japanese companies Japan Recorders Corporation, which would later become Nippon Columbia, a company focused on the sale of tape recorders with speakers. In 1912, a merger was made with Japan-US Recorders Manufacturing, which would allow the management of both hardware and software.

Since its creation, the business focus was the production of electronic devices related to sound systems, then there were a series of mergers with other electronics companies and as a result of these mergers the name of the company ended up becoming Denon.

In 1994, Denon launched the processor on the market. Alpha, which led him to win the European Audio Award for Innovation. That same year he launched the first recording device minidisc of professional radio broadcasting, which became a standard in radio stations worldwide.

Denon launched the first AV component THX-EX of the world, the AVC-A10SE. THX surround sound was launched in the film Star Wars: Episode 1 “The Phantom Menace” (1999) and featured rear surround for both movie theater and home theater equipment. This type of 360-degree sound immersed viewers in a surround sound never before experienced.

The company’s current focus specializes in professional-grade home theater systems, audio equipment, audio and video receivers, DJ consoles, headphones, synthesizers, and even wireless audio playback system

Denon To please its fanatic users, it has implemented Hi-Fi audio systems in its equipment, which are also certified with systems that allow consumers to access the music library of their PCs and mobile devices through the Room interface, this interface allows compatibility with Google Assistant, Apple Siri, Alexa and Josh.ai, all of which can stream HD sound to wireless devices.

Taking into account that the layout of home theater rooms is not the same for each user, Denon implemented a calibration technology called Audyssey, which optimizes sound performance taking into account the measurements of the room. This optimization is essential to enjoy the new 3D audio technology, which more than one Denon device currently has.
