Demi Lovato will return to pop this Friday with 'Fast'

Music news

Demi Lovato is also a bit ‘Brat’ in ‘Fast’

As I had promised, Demi Lovato has premiered this New Single, ‘Fast’ Friday. The song represents the return to the pop of the American singer after the launch of ‘Holy FVCK’ in 2022, with which he adopted a sound closer to rock.

The artist has been putting her public’s long teeth for weeks, giving clues about a return to Pop dance with EDM dyes. ‘Fast’ evidence that Demi has studied the steps of Charli XCX and Troye Sivan for this new stage. In fact, it is produced by Zhone, producer of ‘Rush’ and the remix of ‘Talk Talk’.

‘Fast’ contains elements of Latin House reminiscent of ‘Rush’, and others from Club, House and EDM that certify the influence of ‘Brat’ on current pop. The distinctive element, in ‘Fast’, of course is Demi’s voice, which in ‘Fast’ displays its strength, but without overcoming production. At least, even Beat’s change in the second part of the song.

Does Demi jump to club music? Only in part. The chorus “I want to go quickly / I want to go to top / I want to go anywhere, anywhere you are” is fine, but it is not a revelation, and Zhone’s production reminds other things too much. ‘Fast’ ends like a superficial recreation of a sound rather than a convincing reinvention.

‘Rush’ and ‘Brat’ worked because they naturally responded to the personality of their authors. ‘Fats’ tries to capture his magic, but there is no soul behind, just a powerful voice climbing a fashion sound.

What do you think ‘Fast’ by Demi Lovato?
