Mike Browningwho co-founded the death metal bands Morbid Angel, Nocturnus and later Morbid Angel. He has died at the age of sixty-two, as reported on Morbid Angel’s social networks.
Mike Browning was one of the pioneers of death metal in bands like Morbid Angel and Nocturnus, who later came back to life as Nocturnus AD. His way of playing, inspired by rock classics and intertwined by what he had learned from the first waves of extreme metal, led him to become a benchmark himself.
Browning founded Morbid Angel in 1983 with guitarist Trey Azagthoth to become one of the most important groups in extreme metal, although he was fired from the group after a big fight with Azagthoth. After a time in the death metal band Incubus, he joined Nocturnus in 1987, a formation from which he was fired in 1992 after participating in “The Key” (90) and “Thresholds” (92).
After releasing a solo album, in 2013 it was Browning himself who resurrected the band by giving it the name Nocturnus AD, publishing “Paradox” (19) and “Unicursal” (24). It should be noted that in addition to being in charge of the drums, he was also the singer of the group, something in which he had become a specialist.
