David The Indianbest known for being the drummer of Old Morla and a great fan of gypsy rock of the seventies, now publishes “Llora”, the first single of his band Gipsy Power Band.
Gipsy Power Band is a band created to present the music included in the compilation live. “GIPSY POWER. The soundtrack of quinqui cinema” (Sony Music, 2022), and now they release their first single: “Llora”, from the Madrid independent label Lovemonk Good Records and what they will present live on December 13 at Sala Villanos.
“Llora” is an example of the philosophy and style of Gipsy Power Band, halfway between gypsy rock, rumba and disco music, with obvious influences from names like those of Los Chichos, Las Grecas, Los Chunguitos, Los Chorbos, Laberinto, Los Amaya, Amina or Chango.
As for the composition, it is the work of Rafa de Darako, vocalist of the band and is “inspired by what I have seen throughout my life in my neighborhood, a story as real as life itself: a woman abandons her husband and son fleeing behind luxuries and the night, and how all this leads him to a life of excess, selling his body to buy his freedom. A timeless social drama with a tragic ending but with a lot of dancing.
The project Gipsy Power Band is led by David The Indianbattery Old Morlaalong with musicians who come from the Madrid black music, rock and rumba scene. On vocals, La Pucci and the brothers Rafa and Samuel de Darako. José “Funko” on electric guitar, Rubén García on keyboards, Víctor Iniesta on Spanish guitar, Javi “Skunk” on drums, David Salvador on bass and David El Indio himself on percussion. All of them have been part of, collaborated or toured with artists such as Manolo García, Soleá Morente, Andrés Calamaro, Malú, The Sweet Vandals, Super Skunk, Los Chichos, Remedios Amaya, Aurora & The Betrayers, SpeakLow, Calizo or Sweet Barrio.
