David Byrne and Brian Eno reunite in political ‘T Shirt’

After three Talking Heads albums, a collaborative album in 1981 and 2008’s ‘Everything That Happens Will Happen Today’, David Byrne and Brian Eno are working together again. ‘T Shirt’ has been one of the audience’s favorite songs on the ‘Who Is The Sky?’ tour, and is now available on platforms.

The immediacy of the electropop of ‘T Shirt’ is evident from the first seconds, starring some marked synthesizers that will run through the entire song. On the other hand, Byrne’s lyrics, as imaginative as ever, talk about the importance of helping each other in the current political context.

To do this, he uses the simile of a t-shirt that has a certain slogan: “My beliefs are in this t-shirt / My religion is in my pants / My condition is in this iPhone,” he sings in the first lines. The chorus is a call to unity: “Sing my shirt, take it off / Dance until we collapse.”

The video clip, like Byrne’s own live performance for the song, revolves around different t-shirts and the phrases that can be read on them. These range from “Make America Gay Again” to “I’m with the stupid one” to “With a body like this, who needs hair?”
