Daphni has announced his first album in four years, “Butterfly”. The successor album to “Cherry”his latest work to date, will arrive on February 6, 2026 through the Jiaolong label. At the moment, he has already shared a couple of new songs that serve as a preview: “Lucky” and “Waiting So Long.” The latter is a curious collaboration with Caribouthe best-known alter ego of Dan Snaiththe person behind Daphni.
Himself Snaith He explained, in a statement, the reason for this collaboration: “People always ask what the difference is between the music of Caribou and that of Daphniand how do I decide which is which. I think there have been times when the music I make under both aliases has been more separate, and times when they have been closer. Something that has always distinguished them is that I have never sung in a song Daphni. When I started “Waiting So Long,” it was initially instrumental. The lyrics and melody came to me while I was working on it and I recorded it without thinking too much about it. When I listened to it again a few days later, it was the first time I had the feeling that a song belonged to both aliases. On a practical level, I just felt like this was a song that fans of both might want to hear.”
This new album Daphni It will have 16 songs, among them we will find songs that had previously been published as singles. This is the case of “Josephine”, “Sad Piano House”, “Eleven” and “Clap Your Hands”. According to the artist himself, “Butterfly” will represent an album to be played in his DJ sessions. in which the Open Ground in Wuppertal, Germany, exerts a special influence.
