Damon Albarn premieres electronic opera and announces Gorillaz’s album

After a few months very busy with the return of Bluryour album and your meeting tour, Damon Albarn has confirmed that there will be a new album of Gorillaz.

It can give the impression that Damon Albarn has only had time for Blur, with his return, the album, the documentaries, but it seems that it has not been so. Musicians are usually restless and more like him. On the one hand, he has been composing an electronic opera and, on the other, he has been working on a new Gorillaz work.

So today’s news is that there will be a new album by Gorillaz and we can listen completely at some point in this year. The news has come to light through an interview with the French media inrockupibles. There, Albarn has not only talked about “The Magic Flute II: La Malediction”a sequel to “The magic flute” of Mozart in electronic key in which the British has been working and that is being performed live this weekend at the Théâtre du Lido de Paris (on the poster until March 30). You can buy tickets in this same link.

In that same interview, Albarn comments that there will be Gorillaz’s album this year – which would in fact be finished in a month and a half from this date – and that, for the moment, he has no other plans. Of course, he says that “these are my plans and I think they are sufficient for 2025, unless someone accuses me of having raised my foot of the accelerator.”
