Criminal process against Brian Molko for calling Meloni “Nazi

Brian Molko, a placebo vocalist, has received a formal demand for defamation after uttering several insults to Giorgia Meloni, prime minister of the Italian Republic, during a placebo concert in Turin in the summer of 2023. In the concert, Molko called “piece of Shit, fascist, racist and Nazi ”to Meloni and demanded rights for non -binary and transgender people.

Meloni, who governs in Italy with the ultra -right -wing party he leads, brothers from Italy, responded to the insults of Molko complaining against the artist and accusing him of injuries to state institutions. Finally, the Italian Ministry of Justice has opened a criminal process against the musician. The crime of insults to the State in Italy is punished with a fine of up to 5,000 euros and could take Molko to trial.

The Italian government, like others led by the extreme right, has adopted openly contrary to the rights of LGTBQ+people, such as the cut of rights to homosexual families or the limitation of the access of trans people to specialized medical care.
